Differences between Photovoltaic Cables with Irradiation Cross-linked Sheath and Ordinary Cables
Photovoltaic cables, also known as solar cables, are primarily used in photovoltaic power stations. They boast numerous advantages such as high temperature resistance, cold resistance, oil resistance, acid and alkali resistance, UV resistance, flame retardancy, environmental friendliness, and a long service life. They are mainly used in harsher climatic conditions. Commonly used models include PV1-F, H1Z2Z2-K and IEC 62930. Photovoltaic cables are often exposed to sunlight, and solar energy systems are frequently used in harsh environmental conditions such as high temperatures and ultraviolet radiation. In Europe, on a sunny day, the on-site temperature of a solar energy system can reach up to 100 degrees Celsius.
Currently, various materials available to us include PVC, rubber, TPE, and high-quality cross-linked materials. Regrettably, rubber cables with a rated temperature of 90 degrees Celsius and even PVC cables with a rated temperature of 70 degrees Celsius are often used outdoors. At present, with the frequent launch of the national Golden Sun Project, many contractors, in order to save costs, do not choose special cables for solar energy systems but instead use ordinary PVC cables to replace photovoltaic cables. Obviously, this will greatly affect the service life of the system. The characteristics of photovoltaic cables are determined by their special cable insulation and sheath materials, which we call cross-linked PE. After irradiation by an irradiation accelerator, the molecular structure of the cable material will change, thereby enhancing its various performances.
Differences between photovoltaic cables and ordinary cables:
1. Photovoltaic cable: - Conductor: Copper conductor or tinned copper conductor - Insulation: Irradiation cross-linked polyolefin insulation - Sheath: Irradiation cross-linked polyolefin insulation
2. Ordinary cable: - Conductor: Copper conductor or tinned copper conductor - Insulation: Polyvinyl chloride or cross-linked polyethylene insulation - Sheath: Polyvinyl chloride sheath
3. As can be seen from the above, the conductor used in ordinary cables is the same as that in photovoltaic cables.
4. As can be seen from the above, the insulation and sheath of ordinary cables are different from those of photovoltaic cables.
5. Ordinary cables are only suitable for laying in ordinary environments, while photovoltaic cables can be used in harsher environments.
